Inglewood Secures #1 Spot in the West with 44-0 Blanking of the So. Cal Coyotes

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (August 6, 2023) -- Inglewood jumped out to a 24-0 first quarter lead and a 44-0 half-time lead as they defeated the So. Cal Coyotes to move to 9-0 and lock in the #1 Western seed for the 2023 GDFL National Playoffs. With the win, the Blackhawks secure home-field advantage throughout the playoffs and solidify them of another undefeated regular season, the 18th time in team history. The Blackhawks were led by former Trinity International University All American QB, Nolan Brammer, who only passed the ball 10 times, but was very productive in leading the Blackhawk potent offense. Brammer was 7 of 10 for 141 yards and 2 TD's. Brammer had touchdown passes to Vincent Strange Jr. (3 rec. 110 yds. 2 TD's) who has easily solidified himself as one of the best wide receivers in the nation and the other to Terrell Bowie II. RB Trae Bickham, who was just activated to the active roster rushed for 66 yards and 1 touchdown in just one quarter of work.

The Blackhawks defense was led by a duo of LB's in Devin Jones and Mikell Mair. Both had 6 tackles each but each one of those six tackles came with some force which sent Coyote players going backwards all day. DB Darius Barlowe hauled in his 10th interception of the season which puts him in the top three in the nation. "Barlowe should actually have 12 interceptions but the officials in the Lancaster game admittingly said they made errors on 2 of the four he had in that game", stated defensive coordinator Tim Lane. Barlowe also knocked down two passes and had a 39 yard kick return. DB Tray Watson continues to impress as he had a 34 yard punt return and solidified the trifecta for the team as they scored in all aspects of the game was the second week in a row. But our Gumbo Boys Player of the Game goes to rookie DE, Quran Bouldin who punished the Coyote offensive line all day to the tune of 4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 TFL, 1 FF, 1 FR, and a 5 yard touchdown on a strip, scoop, and score. "We're so honored to have Q in the nest because he's most likely gonna graduate from here and be in some pro camp in the near future", stated head coach Tony Reid.

Inglewood will now wait until Monday to see the seedings from the GDFL and find out who they will host on August 19th. The probable opponents can be Spokane (WA), Arizona, or Everett (WA). For more information, call the Blackhawk team office at 424.262.4510.
