Inglewood Caps Undefeated Regular Season with Dominating 42-3 Victory over San Diego

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 9, 2022) -- The Inglewood Blackhawks capped off an amazing undefeated regular season after defeating the visiting San Diego Silverbacks by the score of 42-3 at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The Silverbacks came out confident and moved the ball down field on it's first drive only to have a field goal attempt blocked by former New York Jets DT Rony Barrow. On their next drive they were successful on a 38 yard field goal going up 3-0 on Inglewood. That prompted their head coach to scream at Blackhawk DB Darod McKnight, "Ya'll are in trouble, this ain't the same team you played before". Well, actually they were as Inglewood ran off 42 unanswered points to sprint to a 42-3 victory. "Sometimes it's best to stay humble and keep your mouth closed because this was a prime example of how to get egg on your face", stated Blackhawk LB Coach, Danny Henry. Well whatever was being said ignited the Blackhawks who used a balanced offensive attack of 27 runs and 27 passes to secure the victory. QB Jimmy Do led the offense throwing for 227 yards on 14 of 27 passing and 4 TD's. Do also had the play of the day on a beautiful 19 yards spin move touchdown that completely took the wind out of the SIlverbacks sails. RB Kendall Gordon looked amazing as well running for 72 yards on the day while his counterpart RB Donald Matthews rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown to pace the running game. WR Daniel Allen once again looked amazing hauling in 3 receptions for 78 yards and 2 TD's. In the past two weeks Allen has hauled in 9 receptions for 238 yards and 4 TD's. This is with starting WR's Justin Sydney and D.J. Carter both sitting out for the second consecutive week as they rest up for the playoffs. "When me and Justin get back our receiving core is gonna be hard to cover", stated Carter. With the way Daniel, Moye, and Tony Parham have been playing, it's gonna be one of those, "pick your poison" situations. Moye finished the day with 4 receptions for 65 yards and a TD while Parham had 5 receptions for 40 yards and a TD.

The Blackhawk defense continues to play at a high level as they sacked the Silverbacks QB 7 times while picking him off 4 times. DB Curtis Chatmon intercepted two of those passes as he was selected as the Week 6 Defensive Player of the Week. Chatmon, DB Emoni Washington, and DT Paul Grimsley all had interceptions on the day. DE Rony Barrow was in the opponents backfield all day disturbing anything they had going. Barrow had 5 tackles, 3 TFL, 2 sacks, and a blocked FG. DB's Dustin Pressley, Brian Flowers Jr., and DE Kenny Ware all had 4 tackles to lead to the defensive dominance.

With the win, Inglewood moves to 6-0 and will have a BYE this week (April 16th) before hosting the Santa Clarita Tigers on April 23rd in the LDFL playoffs. Kickoff will be at 6PM at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
