Inglewood Cage Tigers 40-0 and Punch Ticket to Championship Game
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 25, 2022) -- The Inglewood Blackhawks continued it's 2022 perfection moving their record to 7-0 as they defeated the visiting Santa Clarita Tigers by the score of 40-0 at Jackie Robinson Stadium. With the win Inglewood advances to the 2022 LDFL Championship game where they will take on the So. Cal Coyotes who won their contest 2-0 over the San Diego Silverbacks. Inglewood kept the game nice and simple where they ran the ball 41 times while only passing the ball 10 times. LDFL MVP Jimmy Do was limited to only one half of football while receivers Justin Sydney. D.J. Carter, and Daniel Allen all rested their legs in preparation for next weeks contest. RB Kendall Gordon led the way for Inglewood carrying the ball 17 times for 135 yards and 2 TD's. His dominate play earned him this weeks Offensive Player of the Week. Trae Bickham, Brian Flowers, and Jimmy Do all had scoring runs for the Blackhawks as well. Inglewood ran for 371 yards on the day.
On defense the Blackhawks stayed the course of what they've done all season which is putting pressure on the quarterback. Inglewood sacked the Tigers QB Jermel Woods 6 times on the day. LB's Chris Sautia (8 tackles 1 FR) and Chris Fuifui (6 tackles 1 TFL, 1 sack) wreaked havoc all day leaving the Tigers options limited on advancement of the ball. Santa Clarita were held to 64 total yards on the day. DE Kenny Ware chipped in 2 sacks while DT Rony Barrow had the play of the day when he recovered a fumble and raced 50 yards for a touchdown. Barrow also had a forced fumble to add to his stat line.
The Blackhawks will be appearing in their 22nd championship game in their 24 year history. Kickoff is set for 6PM at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
