Blackhawks use 2nd Half Comeback to Defeat Utah 34-27

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 11, 2023) -- On a night that saw the Inglewood welcome their new QB Nolan Brammer into the mix, the Blackhawks used a dynamic second half comeback to defeat the visiting Utah Senate by the score of 34-27 at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The Blackhawks moved to 3-0 on the season and will embrace a much needed bye this upcoming weekend. Inglewood who trailed 19-16 at the half, came out in the 3rd quarter and held the Senate in check for the duration of the game. Led by LB Devin Jones (7 tackles 1 TFL, and 1 sack), the Blackhawks played a stout defense that led to five sacks on the Senate quarterback. DE Clinton Greenaway continued his onslaught on offensive linemen to the tune of 4 tackles 3 TFL, and 1 sack. DT Chris Benson chipped in 2 sacks of his own while defensive backs Darius Barlowe (6 tackles 99 return yards) and Brian Flowers Jr (5 tackles 1 TFL) held their own on the roof while chipping in on some timely tackles.

While the defense played some sound football, the evening belonged to running back, Jame Toland IV, a rookie out of USC who lit up the scoreboard in his Blackhawk debut. Toland rushed for a game high 190 yards on 20 carries while scoring 5 touchdowns. His five touchdowns tied a rookie record for touchdowns in a game that was set back in 2003 by Ty Evans. "JT looked amazing out there" stated offensive coordinator Paul Mc Calope. We have a great stable of backs but whoever is hot, that's who I'm going with. Toland ripped through the Senate defense and closed out the game with a beautiful 30 yard scamper to the house. With is performance, Tolad was chosen as the Gumbo Boys Player of the Game. QB Nolan Brammer looked very efficient as well going 13 of 25 for 251 yards and 2 INT's. "This was my first game with the guys and I think our ceiling is so high with the receiving core that I have" stated Brammer. Brammers leading receiver on the day was Zach Fields II who finished the game with 4 receptions for 114 yards while WR Terrell Bowie II had 4 receptions for 85 yards. Once we all get that rhythm going like I felt in the second half, we will be much better and a bit more dangerous.

Inglewood has a bye coming up this week and will now prepare for the So. Cal Coyotes on June 24th in Palm Springs. For game or ticket information, call the team office at 424.262.4510
