"Beep Beep", Blackhawks Use Second Half Ambush to defeat Arizona 44-34

COVINA, Calif. (June 27, 2022) -- The Inglewood Blackhawks found themselves in a awkward halftime position as they were down by 21-18 after missing three 2 point conversions but worked the rest of the game in Blackhawk style as they defeated the visiting Arizona Roadrunners 44-34 at Covina District Stadium.Inglewood used a 26 point second half led by QB Jimmy Do who was 14 of 25 for 250 yards 4 TD's 1 rushing TD and 1 INT. Blackhawk head coach Tony Reid took accountability for the interception which took place on the last play of the half in which Arizona scored. "I actually originally called a kneel down but was coerced by a couple of players that something was open and I opened up and tried it". Shame on me for that because that would have made the score 18-14 us and getting the second half kickoff. But the second half was a different animal as RB Trae Bickham ran through the Roadrunners defense for 123 yards and also had 58 receiving and 1 touchdown while backfield mate Donald Matthews scored on the ground as well. As mentioned earlier, QB Jimmy Do had a touchdown and 45 yards on the ground. "I'm impressed with our run game as we didn't have Terrell Alex or Kendall Gordon for this game and still managed to dominate the ground" stated Reid. The pass game was in full effect as well as Do threw touchdown passes to Devin Gage (1), D.J. Carter (1), and Justin Sydney (2) which helped open up the run game. WR Terrell Bowie had some amazing catches as well.

The Blackhawk defense played amazing after the dismal first half. They sacked Arizona QB Kordell Provchy 4 times while picking him off twice. Defensive Player of the Week and former New York Jets DL Rony Barrow led the charge with 6 tackles, 5 TFL, and three sacks while DL A.J. Sautia, former Seattle Seahawks LB Kache Palacio, and DE Travis Taylor all accounted for sacks as well. Palacio had a hard amazing sack on Provchy which caused as fumble. DB's Curtis Chatmon and Derrick Smith both pitched in with interceptions in the secondary. LB's Chris Sautia and Chris Fuifui both were dominate all game long as both chipped in with 5 tackles apiece. "Let's make no mistake about it, Arizona has a pretty good team and good chemistry but we were able to pick up on their offensive game plan in the second half" stated Defensive Coordinator Tim Lane.

The Blackhawks, who are the #1 team in the nation will now await their next GDFL opponent in the Las Vegas Saints who they will host on July 23rd at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6PM.
