Blackhawks defeat Zulus 74-6 and move to 4-0 in LDFL Play

LANCASTER, Calif. (March 1, 2020) -- The visiting Inglewood Blackhawks opened the game and scored in only 1:32 to open the flood gates and beat the host North County Zulus by the score of 74-6. The Blackhawks offense was led by a plethora of players including QB Robert Fuller Sr. (13 of 19 for 271 yards 4 TD's), RB Cory Butler-Byrd (157 All-Purpose yards), and WR's Bryan Williams (3 receptions for 102 yards 1 TD) and Justin Sydney (3 receptions for 109 yards 2 TD's). Sydney had a 95 yard touchdown reception from Fuller which tied the record for longest touchdown reception in team history. They tide the record of 95 yards from QB Johnny Jackson to WR Dartae Frierson in 2005 against the Banning Eagles. WR's Jalem Amis continues to open eyes as he collected 3 receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown. Derl Howard and Dwayne Cross both had touchdown receptions as well.

Defensively the Bird Gang was led by a trio of players. Rookie DE/LB Marcus Slaton had a phenomenal game which earned him the Crab Shack Player of the Game. Slaton led the defense with 8 tackles, 2 TFL, 2 sacks, 1 interception returned for 19 yards, and 2 FF. That's a career day for Slaton who continues to open up the eyes of his coaches. "Marcus is a hybrid type player and I'm excited to see him grow from this game to the next" stated defensive coordinator Tim Lane. DB Kevin Blane had a awesome day as well pulling in 2 interceptions and returning a fumble 22 yards for a touchdown. "Coach Tony called me out on my play last week so I came in with a chip on my shoulder this week" said Blane. DE Devierre Glenn continues to shine collecting 5 tackles, 4 TFL, and 2 sacks. All of this in one half of work as the coaches sat players down in the second half with the game out of hand at halftime. DE Travis Taylor who has been out for several weeks returned to the lineup and recorded 5 tackles, 4 TFL, and 3 sacks. DB's Terrell Turner and Lee Rodgers both had interceptions on the night as well.

The Blackhawks are back at home this weekend as they will host the Santa Clarita Tigers in the LDFL Game of the Week which will be, "Live Streamed" on YouTube Live starting at 4PM. This will be the Blackhawks Annual, "Community Appreciation Day". Admission will be free and there will be several food vendors on deck for your enjoyment. Great food and football on a Saturday evening. It doesn't get any better than that.
