Winning Streak snapped at 17 Games. Blackhawks lose to Stampede 32-0

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (January 25) -- Murphy's law was in the air at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Saturday evening as the visiting Southwest Stamped of Arizona came and knocked off the previously unbeaten Inglewood Blackhawks by a score of 32-0. The last time Inglewood has been shut out in a game dates back to November 2004 when they lost the then CFA championship to the undefeated San Gabriel Rhinos by the score of 28-0. The Stamped came into the game with a vigorous game plan as they limited the Blackhawk offense to only 46 plays while keeping possession most of the game and capitalizing on opportunities. "They out-played us on both sides of the ball", stated General Manager John Colca. Hats off to the Stampede because they did their homework on us and they played possession football which was smart on their end. Offensively, QB Dwayne Cross Jr was named starter for the game as starter Robert Fuller Sr was inactive for this game. In addition, head coach and offensive coordinator Tony Reid was out of town for a funeral as well which could have also led to the mediocre offensive play. Cross finished the game 13 of 26 for 103 yards and 2 interceptions. He also led the ground game with 12 rushes for 31 yards and 0 TD's. WR Justin Sydney led all receivers with 4 receptions for 41 yards.

Defensively the Blackhawks were led by LB Mikell Mair. Mair led the entire defense with 10 tackles and 1 TFL which earned him the Crab Shack Player of the Week. Mair was relentless on the defensive side of the ball playing sideline to sideline all day. DB Donte Turner and DT Edwin Flores both had 4 tackles to add to the Blackhawk defense. "We live by the motto, Next Man Up over here and we allowed the Stampede to dictate the pace of the game" stated Mair. It didn't help the cause that we didn't have the QB's in every aspect of our game plan with Roach Reid as our head coach/OC, Fuller our offensive QB, and LB Devin Jones our defensive QB who missed the game with a hip flexor. Regardless of who was there, the Stampede played a awesome game and took advantage of what was in front of them. If I were them I would have done that too. The Blackhawks finish the preseason 2-1 and will open up league play on February 8th as part of a Triple Header when they host the 805 Bears. Kickoff is at 4Pm at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
