Inglewood Leaves No Doubt as they Defeat Arizona 40-6 to Kickoff 2020

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (January 12, 2020) -- The 2019 LDFL Champion Inglewood Blackhawks

(1-0)

kicked off their 2020 pre-season this past weekend and walked away with a resounding 40-6 victory over the Tucson Thunder of the Arizona Cactus Football League. This was the first ever meeting between the two teams and the first game of the season for both. Inglewood looked rusty most of the game which is to be expected when your first game is your first day in pads. Yes, yesterday was the Blackhawks first day in pads so in the grand scheme of things walking away with a 40-6 victory doesn't look as bad. Offensively the Blackhawks were led by a trio of quarterbacks who all threw touchdowns on the day. 2019 LDFL Offensive Player of the Year Robert Fuller Sr. was 7 for 14 for 70 yards 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. QB Dwayne Cross was 4 of 8 for 123 yards and 2 TD's while rookie QB James Ruiz was 3 for 4 for 81 yards and 2 TD's. RB Jason Allmond rushed for 45 yards on 6 carries (7.5 ypc) to lead the ground game. WR's Billy Jordan, Cory Butler Byrd, John Roberson, Devin Gage, and Donte Turner all had touchdown receptions. Butler Byrd accounted for 201 all-purpose yards and 2 TD's.

Defensively the Blackhawks were led by veteran DE Travis Taylor who continues to show why he's one of the best at this level as he led a stingy defense with 5 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 1 FF, 1 FR, and a safety. "Travis seems to be aging backwards and continues to show those around the league that he's one of the best in the business", stated General Manager John Colca. ATH Lonnie Bickham had an outstanding first game with 5 tackles, 2 TFL, 2 sacks, 1 FF, 1 FR, and 2 PBU. 2015 LCFL Defensive MVP Donyae Coleman who returned to the nest this season after taking some years off looked like he hasn't missed a beat as he had one of two interceptions. DB Shaine Boyle had the other. Inglewood finished with 9 sacks and 2 interceptions.

The Blackhawks will be on the road next week as they take on the Beach City Giants on Sunday, January 19th at 1PM at L.A. Harbor College. For game or ticket info call the Blackhawk team office at 310.946.9733.
