Stephens shines with 6 touchdown passes as Inglewood dominate Cowboys, 44-12

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (August 13, 2017) -- Rookie quarterback, Nic Stephens showed why he's one to be watched this season as he led the Inglewood Blackhawks to a 44-12 victory over the California Cowboys. The Blackhawks scored 30 unanswered points in the 2nd quarter on their way to the route. Stephens connected with five different receivers on the day finding D.J. Carter for two touchdowns, Wooda Armstrong for one, and Solomon Jones for three.

Defensively the Blackhawks dominated the Cowboys as they piled up 10 sacks and 4 interceptions, and a safety. The defense was led by defensive end Travis Taylor who is having a monster season so far. Taylor had 7 tackles, 5 sacks, and 5 tackles for loss. "His motor is running at a high level right now and were just gonna feed off his energy" stated Blackhawk linebacker Mike Johnson. Curtis Perkins, Ronnie Brown, Jay Arroyo, and C.J. Earls all had interceptions for the Birds. Rookie kicker Trevor Dionne out of Santa Monica College was perfect on the day making 4 of 4 PAT's. With the win Inglewood moves to 2-0 on the season and will open up Pac West play on August 26th when they will host the 2016 PCFC champion Southern California Apaches.
