Hollins throws 6 TD passes as Blackhawks Fly by Eagles, 63-6 to stay undefeated
CHINO, Calif. (September 11, 2011) -- With a record setting performance by (QB) Devin Hollins (6 TD passes - 3rd All-time in Blackhawk History) and a strong running performance by (RB) Brian Flowers (8 carries for 136 yards), the Blackhawks moved to 5-0 (4-0 in LCFL play) as they destroyed the Southern California Eagles by the score of 63-6 in Chino. The Eagles did a fine job for one quarter as both teams played to a 0-0 tie after one. The Blackhawks made some real untimely mistakes in the first quarter with 2 interceptions and 1 fumble which kept the Eagles hopes up high for an upset. But as the second quarter started, the Blackhawks begin to put on their firework display.
(RB) Trey Rogers got the Blackhawks on the board with the first of his 2 touchdowns on the night. That was followed up by an interception return for a touchdown by (DE) Doniel Galloway. After that, everything seemed to fall in place for the Blackhawk offense. Hollins begin to pick the Eagle defense apart as he threw scoring passes to (WR) Deshawn Edmond (1 TD), (TE) Rockey Tribble (1 TD), (WR) Kareem Dennis (1 TD), and (WR) Solomon Jones (3 TD's). Jones, who was the 2010 Minor League Football National Player of the Year, had his first solid game of the season with 6 receptions for 166 yards and 3 TD's. Brian Flowers held the running game down with his 136 yards, but the ironic thing is that he did this all in the second half as he didn't play in the first half.
Defensively, Inglewood dominated every aspect of the game by recording 7 sacks and picking off the Eagles quarterback, six times. (DB) Julius Williams had a solid game with several knockdowns and picking off his second interception of the season. Brandon Souder led a defensive charge with 12 tackles and several QB hurries.
The Blackhawks are on the road this weekend to Temecula California as they travel to play the Valley Predators. The Predators are coming off a bye week. In the latest Western Football News poll, the Blackhawks are the #1 ranked team.
