Former Ladyhawks Dance Member Secures ChivaGirl Spot
Sujan Pang (pronounced “Sue-John”), a member of the 2009 Ladyhawks Team confirmed that she has been selected as a member of the 2012 Chivas USA MLS Dance Team. As one of the “ChivaGirls”, Sujan and her team mates will provide entertainment for one of the most successful soccer franchises in the world. Chivas USA plays at Home Depot Center in Carson and starts their 2012 season in March. Over 250 talented ladies auditioned for the 12 spots on the Chivas team. Sujan scored among the very best of the group.
“I knew I had someone special with Sujan,” explained D’nez Westmoreland, Ladyhawks Dance Team Director. “From her start with our team, she literally could see a routine and perform it flawlessly as if she had rehearsed for months.”
Attending the University of Southern California, with a double major of chemistry and mathematics maintaining a 4.0 grade point average, Sujan will graduate this spring and plans to attend graduate school.
Westmoreland adds, “One of my greatest pleasures is to work with ladies like Sujan and watch them take off in the dance / entertainment world. We’re very fortunate to have the talent that an entertainment basin like Los Angeles brings to our organization. I never have to worry about netting some talented girls for the team. The only problem is that there are usually more talented women auditioning then spots available.”
D’nez has created for the Blackhawks what critics call one of the best minor league dance teams in the nation, rivaling some of the best NBA and NFL teams in the industry. To date under his direction, several ladies from his teams have advanced professionally in dance. Former members can be seen with the Laker Girls, Clipper Girls, San Diego Chargers, Princess Cruises, Sesame Street on Broadway and now, Sujan is the second to make the ChivaGirls.
“Nothing could make me prouder than to see these ladies succeed both on and off of the field. I’m very lucky to be a part of that process.”
Ladyhawks Dance Team tryouts have been set for Tuesday, April 3rd. Tryout information, applications and related materials will be directly accessible on www.blackhawkfootball.com. For more information on the Ladyhawks Dance Team, email D’nez Westmoreland at dnez@blackhawkfootball.com.
