Blackhawks Outduel Bears 10-7 to Stay Undefeated

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (August 28, 2011) -- In what some would call an epic battle of two great teams with two undefeated records, the Inglewood Blackhawks (4-0 -- 3-0) emerged with a hard fought 10-7 victory over the National City Bears in week three of La Belle Community Football League action.  The Blackhawks came out on it's very first drive and marched right down the field and scored on a 37 yard strike from (QB) Devin Hollins (Crenshaw High and Arkansas State) to (WR) Deshawn Edmond (Locke High and University of Charleston). The PAT by kicker Jonathan Johnson (Arizona State) made the score 7-0.  The score would stay that way until early fourth quarter when Johnson nailed a 36 yard field goal to put the Blackhawks up 10-0.

The Bears made things look a bit interesting late in the fourth quarter when Bears quarterback, Michael Clark found (WR) Tyrone Gipson down the middle for a 41 yard touchdown that brought the score to 10-7.  The untimely score for the Bears was made possible when Blackhawk defensive back Kinte Haynes was headed to swat the ball down but collided with the official who was chasing the play and gave Gipson easy access to catching the touchdown.  With the score only being a 3 point deficit and the clock a huge factor for the Bears, Hollins found Solomon Jones on the left sideline for a 24 yard pas and catch which would ultimately end the game and keep the Blackhawks undefeated.  The defense played exceptional led by defensive ends, Kori Dickerson (Washington Prep, USC, Philadelphia Eagles) and Brandon Souder (Banning and Marshall University) who both had 2 sacks on the day.

The Blackhawks will be off this week but will travel to Ontario, California on September 10th to take on the Southern California Eagles.  The game will be played at the beautiful Ayala Sports Complex.
