Blackhawks Fly by San Diego with a 42-0 Victory over Stallions

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (October 17, 2011) -- The Inglewood Blackhawks (9-0 -- 8-0) moved one step closer to becoming the first Blackhawk team ever to go undefeated in the regular season when they flew past the San Diego Stallions 42-0 in week 9 of LCFL play.  The Blackhawks got off to a slow start once again and only led the Stallions 16-0 at the half but came back storming in the second half scoring 26 points to round out the scoring.  The Blackhawks got on the board early when (RB) Brian Flowers plunged in from two yards out.  That touchdown was followed by a 1 yard sneak by (QB) Devin Hollins.  Hollins finished the day 17 of 25 for 303 yards 2 TD's 1 interception, and 1 touchdown on the ground.  But an untimely interception late in the game led to Hollins being hit low which resulted in Hollins coming out the game.  Results of an MRI are still pending.  (QB) Reggie Haynes came in in Hollins absence and didn't miss a beat as he completed 5 of 6 passes for 98 yards and 2 TD's.  Haynes also had 2 receptions for 34 yards.  (WR) Solomon Jones keeps showing us week in and week out why he was the National Player of the Year in 2010 as he pitched in with  7 receptions for 145 yards and a TD.  (TE) Rockey Tribble scored two touchdowns on the day giving him four on the season which is tops amongst tight ends in the league.  (WR) Deshawn Edmond, who didn't play until the second half, scored on a 15 yard reception from Haynes.

The defense was led by (LB) Roy Otis and (DE) Kori Dickerson who both had big nights.  Otis and Dickerson both had eight tackles on the night while Dickerson also added 3 sacks to pace a stingy defense.  The Blackhawk defense held the Stallions to a record -33 yards on the day while sacking their quarterback 9 times.  Defensive tackles, Victor Fonseca and Amir Gabourel held down the trenches while defensive backs Julius Williams, Kinte Haynes, and Eddie Hunter made sure nothing was caught in the air.  The Stallions only mustered up 3 receptions for the game.

The Blackhawks will be back at home this weekend at 7:00 p.m. as they host the Long Beach Lions in the final week of the LCFL regular season.  The Lions are coming off a 32-11 defeat at the hands of the Valley Predators.  For the Blackhawks, a win this weekend will give them their first undefeated regular season in team history dating back to 2001.  Inglewood has already locked up the #1 seed for the LCFL playoffs and a first round bye.  The playoffs start the weekend of October 29/30th.
