Blackhawks complete 10-0 Regular Season with 31-6 trouncing of Long Beach

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (October 23, 2011) -- The Inglewood Blackhawks (10-0 -- 9-0) completed the first undefeated regular season in Blackhawk history on Saturday night with a convincing 31-6 victory over the Long Beach Lions at Jackie Robinson Stadium.  Even without injured quarterback, Devin Hollins, the Blackhawks were able to control the entire game behind the play of wide receiver turned quarterback for the day, Deshawn Edmond.  Edmond gave a dimension to the Blackhawk quarterbacking by using his legs to keep Long Beach off guard all night.  Edmond rushed for 77 yards on 8 carries on the night.  He was joined with a solid running game by (RB) Brian Flowers who carried the ball 14 times for 98 yards and 2 TD's.  The Blackhawks rushed the ball a season high 37 times against the Lions.  (DB) Kinte Haynes, who fills in at quarterback in certain Blackhawk formations, also contributed to the ground game scoring on an 11 yard run.

The Blackhawk defense which has been tremendous all year long, sacked Lion quarterback, Tom Mc Dougall 14 times on the night.  Both defensive ends, Kori Dickerson and Brandon Souder had four sacks apiece.  Linebacker Roy Otis had 2 of his own to go with 7 tackles as well.  (LB) Leon Friend had another great day intercepting a pass while pitching in 5 tackles.  (K) Mark Drake got in on the scoring kicking a career high, 51 yard field goal as time expired in the first half.

With the 10-0 record, the Blackhawks received a first round bye in the 2011 LCFL playoffs which are set to begin this weekend, October 29th.  The Blackhawks will host the winner of the 4/5 matchup with the North County Cobras and Long Beach Lions on Saturday, November 5th at Jackie Robinson Stadium.  For ticket and play-off info, call the team office at 323.297.3248.
