Blackhawks Cage CPT Panthers in Pre-Season Opener, 31-6.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (August 2, 2011) -- The defending LCFL Champion Inglewood Blackhawks (1-0) hosted the Compton Panthers of the UAFL in Preseason action last Saturday and walked away with a dominating 31-6 victory at Jackie Robinson Stadium in Los Angeles.  The Blackhawk offense sputtered for the first half only scoring 15 points but scored 16 in the second half to round out at 31.  Offensively the Blackhawks were led by (RB) Brian Flowers who carried the ball 14 times for 82 yards and a touchdown.  He also contributed to the receiving game catching 2 passes for 48 yards.  2010 National Player of the Year, Solomon Jones had 4 receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown of his own.  (FB) Devaughn Wallace had the other score for the offense. 

 
The defense pitched a shutout as the Panthers only score came on a 95 yard kick return by Sharoud Moore.  The defense looked quick and efficient and they sacked the Panther quarterback 7 times on the day while picking off two passes.  Linebacker, Leon Friend had a team high 9 tackles and 1 sack to lead the defensive charge.  Other great defensive performances were put in by (LB) Roy Otis (6 tackles), (DE) Brandon Souder (5 tackles and 2 sacks), (DE) Kori Dickerson (4 tackles 2 sacks), and (DL) Victor Fonseca (5 tackles).  Julius Williams and Antonio Johnson both had interceptions for the "Bird Gang". 
 
Punter turned kicker for the day, Jonathan Johnson was out standing as he average 50.3 yards on three punts while converting 2 out of 3 PAT's.  (WR) L.T. Thrower looked spectacular in the return game as he was one defender away from taking one to the house returning a kick 27 yards.
