Blackhawk Practice May 14th LOS ANGELES, Calif. (May 9, 2008) -- The Blackhawks will resume practice this upcoming Wednesday, May 14th at 7:00 p.m.  The location will be St. Andrews Recreation Center in Los Angeles.  St. Andrews is located at 8701 St. Andrews Place, Los Angeles, California 90047.  We will be in full gear so if you have all of your equipment, please bring it and be ready to use it.  Team fees have been set to be collected on this day so be sure to get situated with this area of the 2008 season.  We will begin to distribute uniform numbers at that point as we prepare for the upcoming season.  The Blackhawks have already secured a preseason game against the California Raiders on Saturday, June 21st so let's start to prepare.  If you have any questions, feel free to call us at the team office at 323.297.3248. read more »

Feel Good Story INGLEWOOD, Calif. (April 25, 2008) -- Two weeks ago on a cold night in Anchorage Alaska, 4 Blackhawk players took the field in an Intense Football League game and accounted for 10 touchdowns as the Alaska Wild defeated the Fairbanks Grizzlies, 64-20.  Blackhawk receiver, Andre Velazquez scored four touchdowns for the Wild while Solomon Jones scored three for the Grizzlies.  All of Jones touchdown receptions came from Damion Ward who is the Blackhawks starting quarterback.  And keep the pressure off of Ward is Blackhawk offensive lineman, Robert Barrales.  With the performances that were put on, it shows that the Blackhawk program takes pride in sending quality athletes to the next level.  You can watch both the Grizzlies and Wild games online at http://www.b2livetv.com/?v=IndoorFootball for $7.00.  It's a great way for Blackhawk players to keep up with there teammates while there in other parts of the world playing football.  If your a player looking to get to where these guys are, this is the organization that can get you there.  For information on joinging the team, call us at the team office at 323.297.3248. read more »

Dickerson Resigns With Blackhawks INGLEWOOD, Calif. (April 25, 2008) -- The Inglewood Blackhawk coaches got a dose of great news on Thursday when (DE) Kori Dickerson resigned with the team for the upcoming 2008 season.  Dickerson who plays in the Canadian Football League for the Hamilton Tiger Cats will return to California when the Ti-Cats have Thursday games and also during his bye week so he can participate with the Blackhawks to be eligible for the post season.  Last season, Dickerson did the same thing when he flew in to play against the California Longhorns in week one of the season.  "With us knowing KD will be here for the season, that adds a major factor to our defensive line which includes the likes of John Sloan, Bill Clark, Kevin Moore, and Travon Magee", stated Tony Reid.   Our defensive squad will be strong this season with the acquisitions that have been made so far.  We are currently looking for more players that have the same fire were bringing into the season.  Dickerson recently played with the Blackhawks in their Staples Center Championship on April 12th in which he scored on a 38 yard fumble return for a touchdown.  "I'm excited to be able to play with a group of guys like this and the opportunity Tone has given me to be a part of the Blackhawk family", stated Dickerson.  The Blackhawks are currently practicing on Wednesday nights at St. Andrews Recreation Center in Los Angeles at 7:00 p.m.  Any players that are still looking for a quality program to call home in 2008, fill out a player application at www.blackhawkfootball.com.   read more »

Blackhawks Make Noise Across The United States LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 15, 2008) -- This past week has been a dominant week in Blackhawk land as in three different regions of the United States, Blackhawk players have put on macnificent performances.  On April 10th in Anchorage Alaska, four Blackhawk players took the stage in IFL action as the Fairbanks Grizzlies played the Alaska Wild.  The Alaska Wild defeated the Grizzlies 64-20 as Blackhawk receiver, Andre Velazquez scored four touchdowns for the Wild to lead them to victory.  On the other side of the ball, Blackhawk receiver, Solomon Jones scored 3 touchdowns for the Grizzlies in a losing effort.  Throwing Jones those three touchdowns was Blackhawk quarterback, Damion Ward.  All in all, Blackhawk players accounted for 10 touchdowns in that one game.  Across the United States in Prescott Arizona, Blackhawk running back, Ty Evans scored two touchdowns as his Arizona Adrenaline squad defeated the New Mexico Wildcats by the score of 79-43.  Evans is due back in the Blackhawk camp in late June.  And then this past weekend in Los Angeles California, the Inglewood Blackhawks, led by Sirr Parker and Ken Henderson helped the Blackhawks win their 9th Minor League Championship.  What a week for the Blackhawks.  Let's keep the trend rolling as we prepare for our 11 man season and make a strong run for the LCFL West Championship and beyond in 2008. read more »

Blackhawks Capture 9th Arena Championship LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 15, 2008) -- The Blackhawks came, they saw, and they accomplished what they set out to do as they raised their Minor League Arena record to 31-3 as they won their 9th Arena championship Saturday at the downtown Staples Center.  The Blackhawks were led by tournament Offensive MVP, Sirr Parker as he racked up 5 receiving touchdowns on the day to lead his team to yet another Staples Center championship.  Parker had 4 receptions for 79 yards and 3 TD's against the California Cardinals, 3 receptions for 35 yards and 1 TD against the Moreno Valley Mercury, and 3 receptions for 81 yards and 1 TD against the Long Beach Lions.  His three game total was 10 receptions for 195 yards and 5 touchdowns.  He also had three touchdowns called back which would have given him 8 on the day.  The man getting Parker the ball was (QB) Joe Jordan.  Jordan had a great day as well as his three game totals came to 12 of 26 for 237 yards and 8 TD's.  Jordan also had 2 interceptions on the day.  The Blackhawks saw some very positive performances by (RB/WR) Jonathan Dotson, (KR) Rodney Connor, (LB/DB) Kinte Haynes, (DL) Kori Dickerson, (DB) Ken Henderson and (LB) Carl Gay.  Ken Henderson earned the Defensive MVP with his play as he had 4 interceptions on the day.  "Henderson is no stranger to interceptions in the Staples Center as he has had one in every game he has played in inside of there" stated Blackhawk owner, Tony Reid.  With the championship, the Blackhawks will now shift their focus to the 11 man game as they get ready for a grueling season in the tough LCFL West.  Congratulations Blackhawks on another great accomplishment. read more »

Former NFL and Arena Standout Russell Shaw Signs With Blackhawks INGLEWOOD, Calif. (March 26, 2008) -- Today the Inglewood Blackhawks receiving corps got a little bit stronger when former St. Louis Ram, L.A. Avenger, and most currently, Chicago Rush player, Russell Shaw signed to play with the Blackhawks through 2009.  Shaw has always been familiar with the Blackhawks as his cousin is current Blackhawk receiver, Dartae Frierson and owner Tony Reid is also family to Shaw.  Local football enthusiast all should know of Shaw as he and current Blackhawk receiver, Sirr Parker teamed up at Locke High School where they were two of the City's most sought after athletes.  After high school, Shaw moved on to El Camino College where he shattered every receiving record before moving on to the University of Michigan where he was a standout for the Wolverines.  While breaking records at El Camino, Shaw was the go to guy for current USC Offensive Coordinator, Steve Sarkisian.  Each one played a pivotal part in the success there both having to this day.  From Michigan, Shaw went on to play in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams before starting his Arena 7 year career with the L.A. Avengers.  He spent four seasons with the Avengers before being allocated to the Chicago Rush in the 2005 expansion draft.  In Chicago he helped the Rush win the 2006 Arena Bowl and was an intricate part of that championship team.  There are several opportunities still out there for Shaw but his desire to get back to the 11 man game has landed him with the Blackhawks.  The Blackhawks are excited about this addition and look for great things out of Shaw this season.  You can get your first peak at Shaw on Saturday, April 12th when the Blackhawks will be playing in the L.A. Evans Making Waves In Arena League INGLEWOOD, Calif. (March 26, 2008) -- Blackhawk running back, Ty Evans is picking up where he left off after his 2007 Arena season.  Last year, Evans was one of the many weapons on the San Diego Shockwave arena team where he led them to an unblemished record in the national Indoor Football League.  This season, Evans is a key component to the expansion Arizona Adrenaline of the American Indoor Football Association.  The Adrenaline had there first ever action last week in a scrimmage game the Reading Express in which they fell short as time ran out by the score of 47-43.  Evans who holds several Inglewood Blackhawk rushing records is excited for the start of the AIFA season but more enthused about returning to the Blackhawks in June after his arena season.  "Last year after the Shockwave season, I had a lot of bumps and bruises which needed to be rested.  That kept me from a full season with the Blackhawks in 2007 so I'm even more amped to get back out there on the big field with my Blackhawk family" stated Evans.  The Blackhawk season starts July 12th when the Blackhawks will travel to Reseda California to take on the California Longhorns.  Season tickets will be on sell starting April 1st so call the Blackhawk Team Office at 323.297.3248 and reserve yours today. read more »

Velazquez Showing The Alaskans How The Blackhawks Do It ANCHORAGE, Alaska (March 10, 2008) -- Blackhawk receiver, Andre Velazquez is starting to make waves with the Alaska Wild of the Intense Football League.  Velazquez started his arena career with a standout night against the rival Fairbanks Grizzlies.  Dre delighted the crowd with three touchdowns in the Wilds 88-21 victory over the Grizzlies.  Velazquez scored from three different areas on the field.  He scored on a 41 yard kickoff return, a pass reception, and ran one in playing the quarterback position.  Things look pretty productive for Velazquez as the Wild go into week two against the Frisco Thunder as a slight favorite.  We wish Andre the best during his tenure with the Wild and eagerly await his return to the Blackhawks in early July.  Keep up the good work. read more »

Jones and Ward Sign Arena Deals INGLEWOOD, Calif. (March 10, 2008) -- The Inglewood Blackhawks just added two more players to their graduating alumni list as (QB) Damion Ward and (WR) Solomon Jones have both just signed contracts with the Fairbanks Grizzlies of the Intense Football League.  Ward and Jones join Blackhawk teammate, Robert Barrales as members of the Grizzlies.  Fairbanks had there first game as an expansion team last week and lost to the Alaska Wild by the score of 88-12.  Right after the game, Grizzlie coach Lee Mireles called Blackhawk owner Tony Reid and asked if he had any more players the caliber of Barrales that can play quarterback and receiver.  Coach Reid went to work right away and got Ward and Jones lined up to go on to the next level.  By 10:00 p.m that night, both players had contracts and flight itineraries faxed over to the Blackhawk office.  Both players leave tomorrow (3/11/08) to get prepared for the Grizzlies game this weekend against the Odessa Rough Riders.  Coach Reid spoke with Grizzlie owner, Chad Dittman for over an hour Sunday night and it has been established that the Blackhawks will now have a pipeline to the Grizzlie organization and another team in the IFL that Dittman owns.  Lately, the state of Alaska has become a hot bed for Blackhawk players as the number has risen to four.  Andre Velazquez is with the Alaska Wild while Jones, Barrales, and Ward are with the Grizzlies.  We look forward to there return at the conclusion of there season in late June.  Congratulations fellas on the advancement. read more »

Barrales Signs Deal With Fairbanks

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (February 25, 2008) -- Another day, another Blackhawk is headed to the league.  Blackhawk offensive lineman of the year, Robert Barrales signed a contract Saturday to play with the expansion Fairbanks Grizzlies of the Intense Football League.  Barrales is the 6th Blackhawk player since the end of the 2007 season to sign with a paid professional league.  Barrales joined the Blackhawks last season coming from Clark University in Atlanta Georgia.  He was by far one of the most physical players in the league with a mean streak that any coach would love.  His play in 2007 also earned him All American honors as well as being chose as a LCFL all-star this past season.  Barrales is excited about joining the Grizzlies but at the same time excited about the 2008 season with the Blackhawks.  "When I get back I'll be in better shape than last season and ready to bust some heads" stated Barrales.  I want to thank coach Tony Reid for the work he has put in to get me to the IFL.  The Blackhawks would like to say congratulations on your first of many big accomplishments.

Magee Signs With Baltimore Mariners INGLEWOOD, Calif. (February 17, 2008) -- Blackhawk defensive end/tight end, Travon Magee has signed a contract to play with the new Baltimore Mariners of the American Indoor Football Association.  Magee will be teaming back up with coach Chris Simpson who coached Magee a few years ago with the San Angelo Stampede of the IFL.  This is Magee' third trip to an indoor team as he has played with the San Angelo Stampede(IFL), Tennessee Valley Vipers (AF2), and now the Baltimore Mariners.  If all works out well and the Mariners end up playing the Arizona Andrenaline in the AIFA Championship game, he will face off against his Blackhawk teammate Ty Evans who is the starting running back for the Andrenaline.  Congratulations to Travon on another move to the next level.  To read more about his signing, go to http://www.baltimoremariners.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=35&Itemid=1 read more »

Blackhawk  Representing in CFL INGLEWOOD, Calif. (August 7, 2007) -- 2006 LCFL MVP, Kori Dickerson did what most guys play this level of football for, "To move to the next level". Kori did just that after the 2006 season by signing with the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the Canadian Football League. Former Inglewood Blackhawk, Mark Estelle Excelling in CFL with Montreal Allouettes INGLEWOOD, Calif. (August 7, 2007) -- Mark Estelle joined the Blackhawks in 2005 to gain game film so he can move on to the next level. It took Mark only a few games to do that as the Baltimore Ravens inquired about the defensive back from Utah State and gave him an opportunity to play with the elite. Mark did just that by signing with the Ravens throughout the 2005 preseason. By signing with the Ravens, Mark put himself in a position to be in "THE SYSTEM". After his release from the Ravens, several NFL and CFL teams vied for his services for the remainder and beginning of the next season. Mark ultimately went on to sign with the L.A. Avengers of the AFL, then he moved on to the Montreal Allouettes of the CFL where he was a starter in the 2006 Grey Cup. read more »
